Workation stays as holidays that combine work and leisure have been gaining in popularity since the Covid-19 era - and also in interest, especially among top management. This is shown by a recent online representative survey of Adina Hotels, which was conducted last autumn by Delta Marktforschung among a good 3,000 people, most of them professionals.

The trend towards workation goes hand in hand with the increasing possibilities of hybrid working models and the frequency of home office days. Of the professionals surveyed, almost half (46 per cent) currently work remotely. Just under one in four professionals are already familiar with the term workation and its meaning - an increase of 9 per cent compared to the first survey in 2022. Business travellers and remote workers in particular are familiar with the term, at 40 and 38 per cent respectively, while almost half of employees in top management are familiar with it.

When asked whether they could imagine working remotely in general, remote workers, business travellers and senior management, 80 percent of whom also work remotely, are in agreement: more than two thirds would consider working remotely. The main motives they cite are a good work-life balance and the desire for variety in their working lives, as well as more sightseeing, leisure and sports opportunities than in the conventional working day.

Working at the Adina Hotel

The Adina Hotels advertise the workation options in their 18 hotels in Europe. Centrally located in major cities, they offer studios and flats where remote workers will find plenty of space for an individual workplace. Each building has unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi and a separate area for living and working. There are also conference rooms and lobby areas for meetings or networking. The Adina Hotel in Düsseldorf even has its own co-working space.

All Adina hotels also offer catering services. If you want to cook for yourself, each flat has a fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine, fridge, cooker and dishwasher. Most flats also have their own washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing station. The in-house wellness area with fitness room, heated pool and sauna is also available for shorter and longer workation stays.

Especially in Germany, workation stays are easy to realise for employees and employers for legal reasons.
